Do what and carry on? Featured

A short while ago a clip called “Keep Calm and Carry On” went viral on YouTube. It was all about a poster that was resurrected all this time after World War Two and the story behind it.

A bookshop in Britain decided it needed to reproduce the posters and start selling them – and good on them – they have probably made their millions as the clip to date has had 1,105,832 views making it quite a popular poster.

See what I mean?

So then, just the other day I was on adsoftheworld.com and I came across this ad campaign for Land Rover by Y&R South Africa.

My question is… the video above went viral, sure, but I can almost guarantee you that the people in South Africa that watched that video are not the people that are in the market of buying a Land Rover, so who are they talking to?

The ad is such a blatant parody but if someone hasn’t seen the above-mentioned original posters would look at these ads and seriously wonder WTF??! The comments that followed on adsoftheworld.com were less than complimentary – it seems no one is impressed by them. Having said that… I at least like the art direction.
